BRAND: NETFLIX INDIA CAMPAIGN: COMEDY PREMIUM LEAGUE (CPL) (VIEW CASE STUDY)
BRIEF: Netflix wanted uber-cool, chic, and quirky graphic designs for their upcoming show ‘Comedy Premium League‘ (CPL). As the name suggests, it was a comical spinoff on sports events, or rather one in particular!
OBJECTIVE: It was up to the foxes to present Netflix’s ask of eccentric yet comprehensible and coherent show-packaging graphics for their upcoming show ‘Comedy Premium League’ (CPL).
CREATIVE CONCEPT: CPL consisted of 4 teams, IDGAF Iguanas, Lovable Langoors, Naazuk Nevle, and Gharelu Gilaharis. The inspiration for each team logo animation was an amalgamation of the animal’s personality, the team name, and our design concept. IDGAF Iguanas was designed to be aloof and nonchalant, while Lovable Langoor was created to be more of a charming flirt. Nazuk Nevle was designed to be more sly than they show they are, while Gharelu Gilaharis was shown to be an intelligent hoarder. Whereas the CPL logo portrayed the sporting event feels (stadium lights) and standup comedy aesthetics (microphone).
IDGAF (I DON’T GIVE A F*CK) IGUANA: Iguanas are super chill, easy-going, relaxed, laid-back or to sum up, filled with an IDGAF attitude. And even if they’re not, then on reading this you may be convinced that they really are what we show them to be, isn’t it?
LOVABLE LANGOOR: Displaying the “lovable” trait, the langoor is a Romeo-like character, with his heart on his sleeve (or his glasses in this case), smoking in a cool style, with spiked hair. The heart shape on the langoor’s glasses further shows us the flirty side of his nature.
GHARELU GILHARI: These dazed Gilharis are lazy, sleepy, and heavy-eyed as they live inside the bark of a tree. They only like their beds and sleep and they’re not sorry. The only time you’ll spot them popping out of their homes is when someone has disrupted their me time!
NAAZUK NEVLE: Don’t go by just their name. They’re not as innocent as they might appear to be. The character of Nevle was designed to appear more sly than it really is! The innocence is a façade; once the glasses come on and the thinking hat is donned, there’s really no going back for Naazuk Nevle!
CREATIVE EXECUTION: Keeping up with the sporty aesthetics of the show, the foxes designed Aston bands, Scoreboards, Team v/s Team, and Lower-Thirds for the show. Harmonizing with the set design given by the Netflix team, we decided to maintain the aesthetics by curating our designs around the polygonal background, with a color palette of teal and yellow, where teal was in focus.
